Using Mixed Media Techniques

Join us and inspire your creativity with this fun mixed media techniques workshop. You will learn how to incorporate watercolor, pastel, image and nature transfers, torn papers, textures, and collage elements with your inkjet photographs to create work with incredible diversity and uniqueness. There will be a presentation on contemporary mixed media artists to get some ideas, discussions, and demonstrations of each technique, as well as time for hands-on to introduce you to the various materials with simple yet effective methods.

We will discuss how abstraction, composition, paper selections and the different art mediums can create one-of-a-kind pieces to feature your photographs for gifting or exhibiting. There will be time to look at your images and make suggestions on how to incorporate them using collage, printing, or transfer techniques.

Expect to gain an inspired imagination for future projects, as well as complete a few pieces during our time together. You will receive a comprehensive handout containing ‘how-to’ descriptions of the mixed media techniques being demonstrated as well as other techniques to try on your own. This helpful guide will enable you to continue working well into the future.

This workshop is geared for any level of artist wanting to incorporate photos with other mediums to add new interest to their work. No previous art or photography experience is necessary.

A short list of instructions about how to prepare some images will be sent after you are registered. Lots of materials will be available for your use.
