Artist Portfolio Reviews and Development
Develop a strong portfolio whether for artistic, commercial or college application purposes. What should it look like, what should it include, what materials do you need and where can you get them? What is a client, gallery, or college interview going to be like and how do you prepare for it? Bring all portfolio items: about 20 pieces that represent your work and any artist statement or publicity materials you may have used in the past. This can be digital images on a device so we can share them, or actual photographs or artwork. Try to select a theme that you might be working on or maybe two themes so that we can get a feel for your style. These could also be school projects. Bring whatever paperwork you have for an artist statement, resume, college application, exhibit or grant proposal guidelines, etc.
My goal is to give you honest and constructive feedback on all the items you will need. These artist portfolio review sessions will give you an opportunity to meet one-on-one with an experienced photographer, juror, curator, and artist for a discussion of your images. An open exchange of ideas will be encouraged to get you going in the right direction. Learn how to begin the sorting and editing process. We will also talk about and define your style, the flow of your presentation, if impact is needed, where are the weaknesses, and share tips on technical issues.
This artist portfolio review workshop is for an individual artist and can take one full day, or it can be for a small group in which case it can take place over several days with assignments in between the sessions.
