How to Photograph Your Artwork & Other Photography Tips for Artists
Selling your work, getting the gallery exhibit or winning prizes at juried exhibitions are determined by the quality of the digital images that you submit. This task can seem daunting at first, but Nancy will show you how easy and inexpensive it can be to make prints or digital images of your artwork. With limited lighting, a decent camera or even a cell phone, you can set up your paintings or sculptures to make photographs that provide richness of color, preserve texture, and reproduce subtle or dark pieces beautifully.
There will be lots of tips from the viewpoint of a professional photographer, experienced juror, and curator. By using your artwork that you bring along to the workshop, Ori will show you how to set up and photograph both 2D and 3D items including jewelry. We will explore camera settings, placement of lighting equipment and what to know about creating the right shooting environment.
This How to Photograph Your Artwork workshop is designed for beginning experience with photography, but you will need to already know the basics on your camera or cell phone. Students should bring their cameras, instruction booklets, tripod if you have one, samples of previous photos, and one piece of art that is typical of your portfolio. The hands-on portion of the workshop will be tailored to the type of lighting that is best suited to your artwork.
Also included will be tips on setting up simple portrait and still life lighting and how to use your camera better in order to photograph a scene to be painted. Includes plenty of time for Q&A.
